Becoming An Avon Representative 101

Personally, I am NOT an Avon representative. That is because my mental health is terrible and I couldn’t cope with a job right now. However, my lovely boyfriend, is an Avon rep and I have noticed a few little tips and tricks that he does that make a lot of extra income.

A lot of people who think about Avon don’t think that it can make a lot of money but they would be wrong. The possibilities of earning are endless. There’s no limit on how much you can earn. You get back what you put in!

If you’re thinking of becoming an Avon representative or you already are one but would like some tips, then this guide is for you.

What is Avon?

According to the official Avon website, ‘Every day, Avon brings beauty to the lives of women all over the world. At Avon, beauty means finding the right lipstick shade for a customer; providing an earnings opportunity so a woman can support her family; and enabling a woman to get her first mammogram. Beauty is about women looking and feeling their best. It’s about championing economic empowerment and improving the lives of women around the world’.

Basically, that means that it’s a beauty catalogue and online store which sells beauty, health and lifestyle products for BOTH men and women.

If you wish to buy Avon cosmetics then you are able to online or by ordering from your local Avon rep.

If you wish to sell Avon cosmetics then you are able to sign up and become an Avon rep for yourself to start earning money.

What does an Avon rep do?

As an Avon rep, your job is pretty simple. You sell products!

As I watch my boyfriend do this, I always chuckle to myself because he has never been a perfect salesman but he makes selling Avon look easy. That’s because Avon products sell themselves.

A lot of people know of the Avon brand and know all the great work that they do with charities. That is why people wish to support them!

But, how do I make money?

You can make money two ways:

  1. Catalogues.
  2. Online store.

I’ll explain a little bit more about the two ways now…

Let’s start with Catalogues

You will be given a credit account by Avon. Often the value of this is around £200 and you are free to order brochures, products and samples up to this value. As you earn money from selling the products that you order, you can pay off your credit account. You will get a 20% discount (upped to 25%) and then you do not need to pay the 80% back to Avon leaving you with the 20/25% profit.

It doesn’t sound like a lot of money but allow me to explain further. If someone orders £30 worth of products, you will profit at least £6. That adds up pretty quickly! Trust me, people love Avon and will place big orders.

When your brochures arrive, you simply place an order form inside the brochure and post it through your neighbours letter box. Don’t forget to go and collect it again a couple of days later!

You can hand brochures out to people at work, your friends and your family.

Moving on to your online store

When you join Avon, you are allowed to set up a store on the Avon website. To see my boyfriend’s store, click here.

You can link people to your online store and people can do as much shopping as they wish. They will pay for delivery and you will still get your 20% profit. That is unless they live in your local area and ask for the products to be delivered by yourself. If that does happen, products will be delivered to your home and you can drive or walk to their home with the products. They will then hand you the money.

When does the money start rolling in?

At first, you will make money, I’m sure. You might not make the most money but over time you will gain something called ‘regulars’. These are the customers that you can reply on to order again and again.

By giving them a brochure EVERY campaign, you can bet that you will earn some money. The more reliable you are, the more you will form connections with your regulars and they will spend more money on products. The more they spend, the more you earn!

How Do I Start?

To start selling Avon, you need to be living in the UK and be aged 18+, sign up and pick a starter pack. These range in price but start at £15 but you DO NOT have to pay this straight away. You can choose whether or not it comes out of your earnings or you can just pay straight up if you wish.

You will receive your starter pack which will contain some products which can be sold on to make extra money or you can treat yourself!

Being an Avon Representative is a great way to meet new people in your local area. You’ll also find you develop new skills as you build and grow your business.

If you are a hoarder of beauty products, it might be even worth signing up just to get discounted products for yourself..

  1. Whenever I hear of Avon, I always think of Edward Scissorhands! Hahah, it’s strange how you relate things back to movies and/or books. You’ve explained this perfectly and I’m sure it will be most helpful to the people looking into becoming an Avon representative!

  4. I had no idea how Avon reps make money before. This is a really good explanation and makes so much sense. I don’t know anyone who does Avon anymore – I might give it a try myself xxx
