What I Hope To See For 2020 Blogging

I can’t tell if it’s just me or if the world of blogging seems to be turning more and more selfish. People only tend to be commenting on other people’s posts if they will get a comment back. People only tend to retweet someone’s promo tweet if they think you’ll retweet theirs. It’s as if everyone is just out for themselves and they will only help you if it will also help them.

Don’t get me wrong, there are nice people out there who just want to help you. Some of the people in the blogosphere are so so so kind that I just want to hug them and never let them go!

There are two things that I just wish people would start doing in the world of blogging..

Actually Read Blogger’s Posts

I feel like this is the one thing that people aren’t doing anymore. When people are taking part in a comment swap, they scan the post and leave a very generic comment. It kind of annoys me though because people spend a lot of time writing there posts. Sure, we love getting comments but if you’re anything like me, I am pretty sure that you would would way prefer people to actually read the post.

More writing instead of 100 photos per post

Something that I noticed recently is that people are hardly writing things on their blog anymore. They are becoming more and more like photo diaries. Don’t get me wrong, I do love looking at photos but if I want to do that then I will head over to Instagram. If I’m reading your blog then I mostly want to hear what you have to see and maybe see the odd photo or two throughout the post. Maybe that’s just my personal preference but that’s just what I want to see.

I hope that the world of blogging in 2020 brings you lots of joy no matter what you choose to do with your blog. What would you like to see more of in the blogosphere?

  1. I’m new to blogging, but I agree, I like to read what people write, if I comment it’s because a reply has formulated in my brain, sometimes I see posts that are going to need more time dedicated to it, so I save them til later. I also see a load of likes from one blogger on my posts, no one reads that quickly 🤣.
I do love people’s pics though, one lady takes loads outside on her walks, one lady creates drooly recipes, I could go on 😊
Wouldn’t it be a boring world if we we’re all the same 😀

  2. I’m definitely making more of an effort to read and comment on blogs it’s so sad how not a lot of people do that anymore. I feel like I fell out of love with blogging for a bit but I want to get back into it a bit more now and connect with the community again xoxo

  3. 🙂 I will agree that there are lots of selfish bloggers out there in the blogosphere.

However, I would like to point out that there are lots of bloggers that genuinely love to interact with each other. They will read every word that you posted and tell you exactly what it is that they thought about the subject that was posted.

I also hate generic comments; I prefer thoughtful comments.

I think that part of the problem is that people do not know how to leave a proper comment.

I will admit that I have also seen my fair share of blog posts with numerous pictures and very little words (It happens mostly with the “Wordless Wednesdays” prompts).

I post long-form content on my blog (I have been doing it since the inception of it).

WordPress is filled with natural-born writers; the trick is knowing exactly where to look for them.

Do enjoy the rest of your day!

  4. I’m hoping to start being more consistent with my blogging and reading others blogs. I been neglectful so I haven’t really noticed what’s been going on with blogging. I would rather have people read my blog than post a random comment.

  5. I am *sort of* guilty of the first one – if I read a post, then I read it but I don’t dedicate enough time looking at other people’s work, so don’t read as many posts as I should. I definitely want to work on that so much more next year.
