WWE Royal Rumble 2020 Predictions

The WWE Royal Rumble 2020 in on Sunday, January 26th, live on the WWE Network. I’m pretty excited as I only fully got into WWE last year for the Royal Rumble 2019 so I’m a bit of a fan over the pay-per-view. It’s the time of year where all the wrestlers point at the WrestleMania sign and the crowd all cheer.

As always the PPV will feature the 30-person Royal Rumble matches for both the women and the men. There’s also matches for the Universal Championship and the Women’s Championships.

Here’s the match card as we know:
1. Men’s Royal Rumble Match
2. Women’s Royal Rumble Match
3. Strap Match for the Universal Championship: The Fiend Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Daniel Bryan
4. Raw Women’s Championship Match: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Asuka
5. Smackdown Women’s Championship Match: Bayley (c) vs. Lacey Evans
6. Falls Count Anywhere Match: Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin
7. Sheamus vs. Shorty G
8. United States Championship Match: Andrade (c) vs. Humberto Carrillo

I figured that I would share my predictions and wishes for the Royal Rumble because it’s a fun way to get involved.

Men’s Royal Rumble Match

The following Superstars have declared for the Men’s Royal Rumble Match:

  • WWE Champion Brock Lesnar (entered himself at No. 1)
  • Roman Reigns
  • King Corbin
  • Dolph Ziggler
  • Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura
  • Braun Strowman
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champion Kofi Kingston
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champion Big E
  • Erick Rowan
  • AJ Styles
  • Randy Orton
  • Elias
  • Rey Mysterio
  • Ricochet
  • Drew McIntyre
  • Otis
  • Tucker
  • Rusev
  • Bobby Lashley
  • Aleister Black
  • Raw Tag Team Champion Buddy Murphy
  • Raw Tag Team Champion Seth Rollins
  • Kevin Owens
  • Samoa Joe
  • R-Truth (undeclared after declaring)

The winner of the Men’s Royal Rumble will go on to challenge for a World Championship at WrestleMania 36.

I feel like I have been overthinking the outcome of the match for too long now. In an ideal world, Brock Lesnar will be eliminated by whoever enters second. Brock Lensar isn’t likely to stick around for an hour long match and since he is entering at number one, he isn’t likely to win the entire thing.

It would be pretty cool if Kofi Kingston entered second and eliminate Brock Lesnar to make up for the embarrassment that was their last match.

Honestly though, I wouldn’t be shocked if Brock Lesnar stayed in until the end and just eliminated everyone leading to the win. I’ll be a little bit more optimistic though and hope that doesn’t happen. It would be pretty boring if it did.

I’m hoping that John Cena rocks in an manages to gain a win.

My prediction: John Cena to win.

Women’s Royal Rumble Match

The following Superstars have declared for the Women’s Royal Rumble Match:

  • Charlotte Flair
  • Natalya
  • Alexa Bliss
  • Nikki Cross
  • Sarah Logan

The winner of the Women’s Royal Rumble will go on to challenge for a World Championship at WrestleMania 36.

A shocking lack of women have been announced for the Women’s Royal Rumble compared to the Men’s Royal Rumble. It would be better if they built up the Women’s Royal Rumble match just as much as they have for the mens.

If Ronda Rousey does decide to come back then this is probably when she appears. If she makes a comeback, she will manage to win the Royal Rumble to give her a good boost.

A lot of people are predicting Shayna Baszler to enter and win the whole thing but I’m not very sure on that one.

In an ideal world, Lacey Evans will win but I highly doubt that too.

My prediction: Charlotte Flair to win.

Strap Match for the Universal Championship: The Fiend Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Daniel Bryan

I feel like this match is a bit of a gimmick. The obvious would be that The Fiend retains because I think they want to give The Fiend a big WrestleMania entrance moment.

Honestly, I’m not looking forward to this match because the red light annoys me. It makes matches so difficult to watch.

I want Daniel Bryan to pull this one out of the bag for a win but annoyingly, I doubt that will happen.

My prediction: The Fiend to win.

Raw Women’s Championship Match: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Asuka

I might get a little bit of hate for this but I do not like Asuka at all. Yes, she is good at wrestling but I just don’t find her entertaining. For this reason, I hope that Becky Lynch retains but I doubt that will happen.

Becky Lynch’s title run has been facing a rough test recently and it’s getting a little awkward to watch. I still don’t imagine that Becky Lynch will lose her title in this match though.

My prediction: Becky Lynch to win.

Smackdown Women’s Championship Match: Bayley (c) vs. Lacey Evans

I’m a big fan of Lacey Evans but a lot of other’s don’t seem to be. I like that they are using her as the all-American heroine.

I feel like Bayley is getting very boring and I don’t care for her. I used to be a big Bayley fan but this whole thing that they are doing with her just makes me bored.

My prediction: Lacey Evans to win.

Falls Count Anywhere Match: Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin

I’m hoping that they get a little creative for this match. I’m pretty bored of watching King Corbin beat Roman Reigns at this point. It would be more interesting if they got The Usos involved and made something fun of this match.

I’m hoping that the match turns to utter mayhem and gets interesting. Maybe Roman could make Corbin eat the dog food this time.

It would be cool if Roman Reigns could pick up a win on this one just to end the whole situation between the two of them.

My prediction: Roman Reigns to win.

Sheamus vs. Shorty G

Honestly, I do not care for this match at all. I’m pretty bored of seeing Shorty G in his weird basketball outfit at this point though.

This will probably be a very short match.

My predication: Sheamus to win.

United States Championship Match: Andrade (c) vs. Humberto Carrillo

The safe bet here is Andrade winning. The match isn’t particularly interesting to me but Andrade seems to be getting a lot of wins in at the moment. He’s a talented wrestler but Zelina Vega is definitely annoying.

My prediction: Andrade to win.

I’m looking forward to watching this PPV and I’m hoping that not all of my predictions will be correct.

So, I’m curious, what do you think will happen in the Royal Rumble 2020? Do you agree with any of my predictions?
