I’m Going Through A Break Up

For those of you who have been following my life through this blog, then I have quite an update for you…

I’m going through a break up. My 5 year relationship is over.

So, Simon and I decided to end our relationship. It was quite a weird decision to make after five years but it was the best thing to do.

I’m not going to go into a crazy amount of detail about why we broke up or anything but I do want to fill you all in a little bit.

Simon and I broke up on the 10th June, 2020 but honestly, it had been over for a long time before that. Simon and I both knew it but we wanted to make it work. It just turns out that we shouldn’t have pushed it.

We definitely love each other but as we spoke more, we realised that our love was purely platonic. We didn’t make each other feel as special as we should anymore and that’s not how a relationship should be at all.

So, what’s next..?

The answer to this question is that I don’t know.

Simon and I are definitely going to stay friends. In fact, we are probably going to be way better as friends than we were in a relationship.

We are still living together as that just works the best for us. I’m sleeping in my own room and he has his room so we have our own spaces but we can spend time together if we want to.

Healing from the break up is going to be painful but it’s already starting to be improving as we develop our new way of life.

Even though it has only been a week, I honestly hope that Simon finds happiness in someone else one day. I hope we both continue to grow through life on our own and together.

We have too many good memories together to lose them completely but I do wish Simon the best in his new life as a single man.

  3. Break ups are never easy, usually messy & cause pain. You & Simon seem to be so respectful of each other and good friends too, but that doesn’t diminish the hurt. Sharing this must’ve been painful, but hopefully cathartic. I wish you both all the best for the future & hope you both find happiness.
Be strong & step into the future with optimism.
    Take care xxx

  4. Aww I’m sorry to hear this, but it’s really nice to read how amicable you both are about it, and it sounds like you’ll be able to stay friends which is lovely. Not all break ups have to be horrible, sometimes they actually fix things too. 🙂

  6. Wow, so sorry to hear you are going through a break up.But it sounds like you’ve both made the right decision for yourselves and it’s better to have decided to brek up than stay together and be unhappy. Of course take as much time as you need to recover and heal, getting over a relationship, even if you’ve both made that decision, is still an experience that takes time, but you will and I’m sure you will find even more happiness in the future ❤ ❤
