Life Lessons From 23 Years Of Life

Life is full of experiences, lessons, mistakes and journeys. Sometimes we encounter things that amaze us, other times they destroy us. Since I turned 23 today, I thought that I would tell you some of the lessons that I have learnt through my 23 years of life.

♡ What people think about you is their problem, not yours.
♡ Not everything that you do needs to be considered as productive. Do things for fun.
♡ Inspiration is everywhere.
♡ Your instincts are there for a reason. Trust them.
♡ Love is having someone you want to take care of. Not just someone to take care of you.
♡ You’ll never regret chasing your dreams.
♡ Choose who to forgive and accept back into your life and who you should let go of.
♡ Living your life your way is important.
♡ Failure is the best teacher.
♡ Don’t wait until a new year to start something new.
♡ In loss and failure there’s opportunity for growth.
♡ It’s not your job to change people.
♡ Practising self care habits is more important that you would think.
♡ Believe in your capabilities.
♡ Avoiding impulse buying is hard but it needs to be done.
♡ Love at first sight is bullshit. It’s just sexual attraction, not love.
♡ You need to work hard to achieve your dreams.
♡ Stay humble.
♡ The kind of people that you surround yourself with will change your view on life.
♡ Don’t worry about something that can’t be changed.
♡ Choose your battles wisely.
♡ You won’t always get what you wished for that doesn’t mean you should give up.
♡ If they want to leave, let them.
♡ Take more photographs. You’ll be happy you did one day.
♡ Change can set you free.
♡ Stop trying to explain yourself to people who don’t want to listen.
♡ Kindness is free.
♡ Some people are just passing through to teach you lessons in life.
♡ Make life count and do what makes you happy.

Remember, it is within your power to live the life that you want. The people who are with you can only support you and encourage you as you reach for your goals. So, go and live the life you want.

What I Hope To See For 2020 Blogging

I can’t tell if it’s just me or if the world of blogging seems to be turning more and more selfish. People only tend to be commenting on other people’s posts if they will get a comment back. People only tend to retweet someone’s promo tweet if they think you’ll retweet theirs. It’s as if everyone is just out for themselves and they will only help you if it will also help them.

Don’t get me wrong, there are nice people out there who just want to help you. Some of the people in the blogosphere are so so so kind that I just want to hug them and never let them go!

There are two things that I just wish people would start doing in the world of blogging..

Actually Read Blogger’s Posts

I feel like this is the one thing that people aren’t doing anymore. When people are taking part in a comment swap, they scan the post and leave a very generic comment. It kind of annoys me though because people spend a lot of time writing there posts. Sure, we love getting comments but if you’re anything like me, I am pretty sure that you would would way prefer people to actually read the post.

More writing instead of 100 photos per post

Something that I noticed recently is that people are hardly writing things on their blog anymore. They are becoming more and more like photo diaries. Don’t get me wrong, I do love looking at photos but if I want to do that then I will head over to Instagram. If I’m reading your blog then I mostly want to hear what you have to see and maybe see the odd photo or two throughout the post. Maybe that’s just my personal preference but that’s just what I want to see.

I hope that the world of blogging in 2020 brings you lots of joy no matter what you choose to do with your blog. What would you like to see more of in the blogosphere?

Not Feeling Good Enough

I woke up this morning and instantly wish I hadn’t. It wasn’t because I wished I had died or something, it was simply just because I couldn’t be bothered existing. I didn’t feel like putting on a front to talk to people and I couldn’t be bothered to pretend to feel good about myself.

Recently, I watched a film called I Am Pretty on Netflix. It wasn’t the best film in the world but it sort of had me thinking a bit. The main character never felt good enough and then suddenly, her mindset changed and she felt like she was super amazing. It completely changed her way of life just because her mindset had changed. In the end, she discovers that she is perfect the way she was, blah blah blah.

I really do wish that it was just as easy as a mindset change to make yourself feel good enough but I don’t think that it is. It takes a lot more to realise your own self worth.

I’m not the type of girl who has a toned body, glossy hair or perfect skin. In fact, I’m actually the opposite. I’m overweight, my hair is definitely in need of some work and my skin in covered in scars and acne. Even though I’m not classed as perfect, I never used to let that impact my confidence.

As a child, we are willing to chat to people without them worrying that they are judging us. However, over the years, our confidence sort of dies and we end up feeling like we just aren’t good enough. What made us change though? Maybe it was all in our heads or maybe it’s to do with factors that we just can’t control. I don’t even know.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll push people away when you don’t good good enough. You think you’re doing what’s best for them but are we really? I used to think that people were my friend out of pity. I figured that they didn’t actually like me, they just felt sorry for me and wanted to seem kind.

It’s kind of weird to look back on that now. I’m now in a situation where I don’t have any real life friends because I’m getting too good at pushing people away. The only person who I do have is my partner and half the time, I think he is with me for pity too. It’s an awful feeling!

When I woke up this morning, I pretended to still be asleep until my partner left so that I didn’t have to talk to him. He didn’t do anything wrong at all, I just didn’t feel good enough to be with him. I felt like he deserved better. I’ve pushed him away so many times in the past and I’ve made his life incredibly hard. But, he is still with me.

That is what I need to keep in my mind. I need to remember that the people who care, are still here. We have been together for over four years and he hasn’t gone anywhere. Sometimes my mind tricks me into thinking that is is pity or maybe that he has some other hidden reason to be with me. However, I need to remember one thing. No one sticks around for four years just from pity.

It’s so hard to get that into my mind but I’m going to keep trying. Maybe I am good enough for my partner. Maybe I am good enough for other people too. I think I just need to start giving people a chance.

What is ‘enough’ anyway? Maybe everyone feels like this and we are all just faking confidence to try to get by? I don’t know what happens in other’s people’s minds and I hardly even know what’s happening in mine.

What I Learned From My First Trip To Walt Disney World

I have an infinity annual pass for Disneyland Paris and I have been a few times now. It’s so magical and I love it. However, even though my love for Disney grows stronger every single day, I had never actually managed to make the trip to Walt Disney World. It had been on my bucket list for a while though.

As a Brit, it’s pretty expensive to go to Walt Disney World so it was something that I could never really afford to do. However, 18 months ago, Simon and I decided to save up and make the effort to head over to Florida to visit Disney World.

We arrived back just less than a week ago and I feel like I learnt a lot that I should tell you about so that you can make the most of your first trip to Disney World.

Taking a break is definitely necessary

Don’t be afraid to admit defeat in a Disney park. Especially is said Disney park is in Orlando. The weather there is absolutely mad. It’s so hot and humid which can make you feel completely exhausted. It’s completely okay to take a midday break. That break can be different for everyone but for me, it was going back to the hotel, turning on the air conditioner and maybe taking a nap. For other people though, it’s simply sitting on a bench and drinking a cold drink.

Select the quick service meal plan

This is what we did and it’s definitely something that we would do again. Dining in Walt Disney World is absolutely crazy. For us, sit down restaurant meals just weren’t going to happen. Hopefully next time but for our first trip, we wanted to keep it as simple as possible. The quick service meal plan saved us a lot of money and we were never going hungry. The snacks and meals are huge and you can still eat as much as you want.

You’ll always wish that you had more time

No matter how much you plan, you will never accomplish it all in the one trip. Even though we went for two weeks, I feel like we would have needed another two more weeks just to get everything done. If you plan to spend time in the hotel, plan mini-golf, visit other hotels or even go to the water parks, you would need even more time on top of that.

Going to Disney World was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. There were a few things that I wish I changed but I just get to take them into consideration next time I go.

Have you ever been to a Disney park before? If you have, which is your favourite?

How To Make Creative Goals

Have you ever found a random list of goals that you set yourself years ago? If you’re anything like me, you probably set those goals and then forgot all about them. I know how disheartening that can be but now that you’re reading this, everything is going to change.

Don’t set ‘traditional’ goals

There’s a couple of reasons why traditional goals are actually holding you back. The first reason is that you aren’t actually creating goals, you’re creating dreams. We are always told to go big or go home so we do go big but by doing so, we are also making our goals impossible to achieve. These kind of goals also reply on other people. For example, maybe your goal is to reach a certain amount of followers on Instagram, well that would be a good goal if it didn’t rely on other people. It’s up to other accounts to follow you and therefore, your goal isn’t in your control.

Set process goals

To me, a process goal is something that you can actively control in your daily life. It doesn’t reply on anyone or anything else. For example, I could make a goal of how many views that I want to get a day on my blog but that it’s in my control. However, I could make a goal to upload a certain amount of posts per week. I can’t make people view my post but I can control what I put out into the world. It doesn’t matter that it’s a small goal, it matters that I’m following the process. If I made my goal that I wanted to reach 1,000 views a day, then I would probably end up feeling really bad about myself if I didn’t reach it. That is why you need to set goals on things that you can control.

Try making goals in three month incriments

There really is no need to set your goal timeframe for a whole year. So much can change and happen in that period that it’s hard to keep yourself feeling accountable. There’s also no time to put off the things that you need to do because you only have three months to reach your goals. After the three months is over, maybe you can extend your goal for another three months or you could adjust your goal completely. That is totally up to you but like I said, a year long goal is just way too long.

Tell your goals to anyone and everyone

I’m not sure why but people have become secretive about their goals. No one wants to share their goals list just on the off chance that they don’t reach their goal. We are all so afraid of failure and even more than that, we are afraid of other people seeing our failures. No one does everything by themselves and that is why you should share your goals. The people in your life will be the biggest motivators for you. Have people check in with you on your goals.

These tips are definitely working for me so I would love to know what helps you with setting goals that you can actually accomplish.

Reasons To Fall In Love With Autumn

For as long as I can remember, Autumn has been my absolute favourite season. The colors, the holidays, the changes – it’s all so magical to me.

Just like most people, I don’t look at life and be grateful for the small things. So, that is why I’m writing this post. It’s nearly Autumn and people get down about the warmer weather going so how about we all try to look at the good things about Autumn..

Orange and mustard colours are everywhere

I absolutely love the colours orange and mustard yellow. They are beautiful and warm. By filling your home with those colours, it gives off a warm and welcoming vibe. By dressing in oranges and mustards, you will look warmer and it will bring a little more colour to your face.

You can cosy up by the fire

Fireplaces are absolutely beautiful to me. You can get them in all different shapes and styles so you can fit it to match your home perfectly. There is nothing more exciting to me than grabbing a comfy chair or beanbag and sitting in front of the fire in the evenings. You could even bring a good book along.

School supplies fill store shelves

It’s been a while since I was in school, but that doesn’t stop me from loving stationery. I love notebooks, pencils, pens and novelty erasers. I love anything that I can be creative with. That is why, even though school is way in my past, I get so excited about a new school year.

Pumpkin spice smells in the air

You know that Autumn has well and truly hit once you start smelling those lovely pumpkin spice smells. The smells fill the air and pumpkin spice lattes come out. Autumn is filled with distinguishing scents and they fill my nose with happiness.

Leaves crackling underfoot

If you love Autumn, you probably get excited by the sound of leaves crackling under your feet when you walk down the street. It’s literally one my favourite sounds ever. It’s funny because I’ve actually started to seek out the leaves. I will purposely walk where the leaves are crispier. Walking through leaves is one of the best Autumn activities there is.

I always knew that I loved Autumn but I didn’t know that I was such a huge fan until I started writing this post. Is Autumn your favourite season? What do you love most about Autumn?
