How To Dress Kawaii On A Budget

Do you ever walk into a shop and instantly get sad because nothing is within budget? Me too!

I’m not a rich girl. I don’t get to go out daily and spend lots and lots of pennies on things that I want. My money is used for things I need to live. So, even though I want to live kawaii lifestyle, I need to do it on a bit of a budget.

But can you live a kawaii lifestyle on a budget?!

Brands Don’t Matter!

I used to believe that to look cute I needed all the biggest branded fashion items. But that’s not true at all. With shops such as Romwe, Forever 21 and Asos around, kawaii clothing is becoming super affordable. My favourite time to buy kawaii clothing is Spring time where everything is super pastel and cute. Romwe, Asos and Forever 21 are perfect for this because they are relatively cheap anyway but often have sales which makes things even more affordable.

Sales, Reductions and Second Hand!

Not only are sales amazing for finding cute items, you can look around for coupons and discount codes for certain shops. This may get you some money off or free shipping which is all a little extra money saved. If this fails and you’re still struggling to find the perfect bag, shoes, clothing or item then head to your local charity shop. They have a huge range of second hand and sometimes new clothing. I’m sure that you’ll be able to find something that is your style and also kawaii.

Get crafty!

If you manage to find a super kawaii clothing piece but it’s in the wrong size or it has a hole, then why not get a little crafty with it. Get sewing and add pastel patches to your clothing to fill the holes. You could even consider buying clothing in huge sizes just for the fabric and making something completely new from scratch. It all depends on how crafty you are.

So, if you’re thinking of trying out kawaii fashion then keep these tips in mind and you might save yourself a penny or two..

How To Plan For A Road Trip To The Beach

The items mentioned in this post were gifted to me in return for a review but this in no way influences my opinion.

The warmer weather is approaching which means one thing; trips to the beach!

For some people, the beach can be just a walk down the street but for others, it can be a huge day trip. Personally, for me, a trip to the beach is at least at hour in the car if not more. But with warmer weather on it’s way, we should all be getting ready for our beach trips.

First of all, grab a blanket. You’re probably wondering why you need a blanket. Allow me to explain. The blanket is for the car journey. It might be a warm day but you still want to be comfortable on your long journey.

My choice of blanket is this lovely blanket from Character World. If you didn’t know yet, then I absolutely adore My Little Pony. So this adorable My Little Pony blanket is absolutely amazing. It isn’t too heavy and is soft enough to keep you warm but cool at the same time.

Next to grab is the obvious; a beach towel. If you’re going to be sitting on the beach, you’ll want a towel to sit on so that your clothing doesn’t get absolutely covered in sand (unless you’re into that).

Once again, mine is My Little Pony themed. It;s a super cute beach towel and captures the warm vibes perfectly.

Don’t forgot snacks. You’re going on a road trip to the beach so snacks are super important. You’ll want snacks for in the car and snacks for on the beach. Don’t get sand in your food though because that does not taste good, trust me.

If you’re after a beach towel, blanket or anything of the kind, head on over to Character World to pick yourself up some great quality beach trip supplies. They have everything from My Little Pony, Pusheen, Pokemon and Disney!

Why You Should Watch Hilda If You Like Gravity Falls

If you know me then you’ll know that I love Gravity Falls. Sadly, I’ve watched all of Gravity Falls a lot of times now so I’m always on the hunt for similar things to watch.

I was scrolling though the internet when I noticed a show that was similar to Gravity Falls. That show is called Hilda!

I decided to throw myself into the show without watching the trailer because I feel like trailers often ruin a show for me.

Hilda is based off the graphic novel series by Luke Pearson. Both the graphic novels and the show follow the story of Hilda; a fearless girl who lives with her mum and her pet Deerfox names Twig. Hilda and her family lived in a forest cabin. That is until certain events happen which force Hilda and her mom and a little elf named Aulfur to move to the city of Trolberg and the show follows Hilda as she learns to adapt to city life, meet new friends and discovers all sorts of weird and mysterious things along the way.

Sound familiar? If you’re getting Gravity Falls vibes I do not blame you!

Hilda is being compare to Gravity Falls by many. Hilda herself is in a way, a mix of Dipper and Mabel. She has Dipper’s interests in the wilderness and the unknown. She also gets along with people and has a personality that is just like Mabel’s when it comes to being caring to others.

But as you all know, Hilda is a whole other show and sometimes I feel like I shouldn’t be comparing all shows to Gravity Falls. While it is nice to compare the showers, I feel like you should watch tv shows as if Gravity Falls never existed.

Not only does Hilda have great characters but it’s visually breathtaking. The animation flows beautifuly, the backgrounds are stunning and the scenery is perfect.

Hilda has me sat watching with a huge grin on my face. Hilda’s humour is pretty straight up and sophisticated. The humour is very ‘British’. The show is absolutely full of tea jokes.

Out of all the animation shows that I have watched thanks to Gravity Falls, Hilda is a person favourite. It is even pretty close competition with Gravity Falls for my all time favourite animation show. It’s full of nostalgia, pretty visuals, fun characters and amazing stories to top it off.

If you’re in need of something to watch and you’ve already watched Gravity Falls, I definitely recommend that you check out Hilda. It is worth watching even if you didn’t like/haven’t seen Gravity Falls.

Will Going Vegan Work For Me?!

If you follow me on Twitter then you will know that I took a huge step in my life and went from being a meat-eater to a vegan.

A lot of people start their vegan journey by going vegetarian and then going vegan but Simon and I decided to throw ourselves in at the deep end and go full vegan straight away.

The Why?!

You probably want to know why I decided to go vegan. I have a few answers to this to be honest.

  1. the animals.
  2. the health benefits.
  3. more ethical.
  4. save the planet, one person at a time.

The How?!

To start with, Simon and I needed to swap our milk. We drank a lot of milk so soya milk was something that we needed to get used to. I adapted to it rather quickly but Simon seemed to struggle. I actually enjoy the taste of soya milk now and think it’s rather tasty.

Simon ate a lot of eggs in the part so he needed to cut them out too which meant finding a new breakfast for him. We did this by finding a vegan cereal such as Shreddies.

Next, we removed all the meat from the home and replaced it with mock meat. We bought a lot of vegan Quorn and foods that looked like chicken but wasn’t. We noticed that Linda McCarthy burgers are absolutely disgusting so we won’t be buying those again. They actually taste like mud.

The final step was doing a fully vegan food shop. We bought a bunch of vegan products and honestly, I liked the majority of them. At first, we found it difficult to find products that were suitable for vegans which meant that we were in Tesco for a looooong time but I actually found it pretty fun.

The Results?!

Well… it hasn’t been very long but I will keep writing vegan updates and let you know how it goes.

So far, I don’t feel any different but I know that I’m making a positive change so I will keep on going!

An Average Day In My Life With BPD

6:00am: I wake up still tired. It makes no sense as I went to sleep at 9pm. That’s a full nine hours sleep but I still end up tired. Maybe it’s the meds, maybe it’s the depression.

6:15am: Breakfast time. I wake up starving as my meds increase my appetite.

6:30am: It’s time for my meds. I take 60mg of Fluoxetine and 20mg of Aripiprozole. I get my prescription ever Thursday and Simon stores my meds in a safe that I have no access to. This is so that I don’t take them all at once.

7:00am: After watching tv for half an hour, it’s time to get leave for the gym.

7:10am: Get on the bus and head to the gym.

7:30am: Finally arrive at the gym. I will probably have fallen asleep on the bus even though the journey was only about 10 minutes plus a 10 minute walk.

7:40am: Start working out. Exercise helps me lose weight but it definitely gives me too much thinking time. I think about life and how I’m getting nowhere. Also, everyone is staring at me, or are they?! Maybe they want me dead.

9:30am: Leave the gym after a shower and head home on the bus. Probably fell asleep again.

10:30am: Have lunch. I realise this is early but we eat early to avoid having tea late. I will explain why in a bit.

11:00am: Head to town on foot. It’s much better than getting the bus. Less people. Town is usually quiet at this time so I don’t mind being out.

3:30pm: Just arrived home from town and it’s time for tea. I am a bad cook so we have to open the windows to let the smoke out. We early early so that it’s before it gets dark so no one can shove anything horrible through the windows as we live in a not very nice area.

4:00pm: Time for getting some blogging work done. This is where I feel more comfortable; using my laptop and talking to my internet friends.

6:00pm: Time for a snack as I’m still hungry. A bowl of cereal and four pieces of toast will do.

6:05pm: Already finished eating.

6:10pm: Watch cartoons and do more blogging.

9:00pm: Head to bed feeling exhausted. Cry myself to sleep.

Kawaii Box Unboxing And Review

I was gifted this products for free in return for a blog post and YouTube content. All opinions are my own!

For the longest time, I have wanted to work with Kawaii Box. I have always wanted one of their boxers but I just figured that I couldn’t afford it so I gave up on the idea.

That was until Kawaii Box allowed me to receive one of their boxes to review and unbox for you lovely readers.

I was so excited for this Box to arrive, I had been waiting at the door everyday at post time so that I wouldn’t miss the box.

As soon as the boxes arrived, I was so excited. I rushed to my desk to unbox it straight away!

The box was the Valentine’s Day box which was perfect because I received it a day before Valentine’s Day.

Also, can we just take a minute to talk about the packaging! How effing beautiful is the box?!

I’ll talk a little about each item first.

The first thing that I pulled out the box was a super cute DIY bracelet bead kit. This was adorable and I decided straight away that I was going to make a bracelets as soon as I’d finished this post and edited my YouTube video. Although I’m an adult, I still appreciate a bit of fun so this bead kid was lovely. If you have kids, it would be a fun thing to do together.

The second thing that I noticed was the pink trinket box. This little heart shaped box is just the cutest! I’m going to use it to store any spare craft pieces and buttons. I think it would look super cute on my desk.

I then found some SakuPan panda snacks. I didn’t want to share my snacks with anyone as they were super yummy. I did end up giving one to Simon though and he weirdly didn’t like them. He doesn’t like strawberry flavoured things though and these were strawberry flavoured so that’s to be expected.

Following the super yummy snacks, I pulled out some adorable Pompompurin socks. They are super fluffy and kawaii and I just love them so much. In fact, I am wearing them as I type this.

In the box, there was also a super kawaii Hello Kitty and Pompompurin dish. This dish would be perfect on a bedside table where you can put your watch and rings and anything else you can think of. It would just look the absolute cutest.

Also, there was a lovely cat pass. I think that’s what I’m going to call it. It’s like a pass that ‘professional’ wear on a lanyard and I love it. If you know me, then you’ll know that I love lanyards.

Possibly my least favourite thing (which I still really enjoy) was a pink squishy heart. It is a slow rising squishy which I love and it also comes on a little chain so you can hang it on stuff.

Another thing that I received in the box was a mechanical pencil. It has a little sweet charm on it and although it arrived broken (but I fixed it), I still love it.

One of the other things that I receive were some panda stickers. Simon claimed these straight away and now they are his. He loves stickers a lot (which is odd for a 26 year old man) but ya know..

Lastly, I received a keyring. It has an adorable love heart on it and there’s also too little jars of pixie dust on them.

If you would like to receive your own Kawaii Box then here’s a little giveaway for you.

The #100DaysOfFitness Challenge: 25 Days Later

I embarked on a journey. A journey of fitness to be exact.

They say that it takes 21 days to create a new habit but I don’t think that’s the case for me. Personally, I struggle to stick to things so I need to really reinforce my new habits.

That is why I started the #100DaysOfFitness challenge!

If you’ve been following me online for a while, you’ll know that I’m trying to lose some weight. Last year, I lost three stone which just isn’t enough for me. I wish I lost more and thinking about it now, I could have been at my goal already if I’d just worked harder.

But that’s all in the past now. All I can do now is work harder and keep going.

So, how did my first 25 days of the challenge go?

Day 1

I went to the gym. I did some tummy exercises and a lot of cardio. I think cardio is my favourite type of workout. Oh, and I walked over 13,000 steps which isn’t the best but I’ll take it.

Day 2

I skipped the gym to walk around the shops with Simon. I did reach my daily step goal though so I’m happy and content. I also did 10 minutes of yoga which I haven’t done in months!

Day 3

I walked to town and back instead of having a lazy Sunday like I usually do. It’s about a 40 minute round trip. I didn’t quite hit my daily step goal but I was close.

Day 4

I went to the gym and DEMOLISHED a programme that was designed by Simon. I’ve never sweated so much at the gym before! Oh, and I did 15,000 steps to make up for the lazy day the day before. I did some yoga before bed!

Day 5

I absolutely killed my workout at the gym. Finished up super sweaty but it was all worth it. Also, I demolished my daily step goal..

Day 6

It snowed so I couldn’t walk outside much because I’m super clumsy. It meant that I didn’t reached my daily step goal. I did do some beginner’s yoga though!

Day 7

I walked 13,000 steps. That’s the only fitness thing that I did.

Day 8

I went to the gym even though I really didn’t want to. I had tummy pain all day but still managed to do over 15,000 steps..

Day 9

I only just hit my daily step goal. I didn’t go to the gym but I did do some stretches in the evening.

Day 10

I did a lot of walking. 21,000 steps to be exact. That is definitely more than I usually do on a Sunday. I did take some measurements though so I can compare my results to the end of the 100 days.

Day 11

I had the ultimate lazy day. No exercise was done at all.

Day 12

I went to the gym and mostly did stretches and yoga as my back hurt. I also walked 24,800 steps!

Day 13

It was another snow day so I stayed in. I did some stretches though as I keep getting aches in my legs.

Day 14

Another day of snow (it was turning into ice) so we walked to town and walked around a little (very slowly). I did record some weight loss goals for my YouTube channel though. You can check that out here.

Day 15

I walked 26,200 steps. I was super tired and slept well that night!

Day 16

I reached my step goal by walking 21,600 steps. We only walked so much because we went shopping.

Day 17

Only walked 7,800 steps but that’s okay because not all days can be great!

Day 18

I went to the gym on my own and although my anxiety was high, I enjoyed myself in the end. I will go on my own more often from now on.

Day 19

I went to the gym. Didn’t do much because my back was still sore but I did do some stretches. I created a fitness Instagram account though.

Day 20

I went to the gym again. Still had a sore back so just stretches for me.

Day 21

I had a morning doctors appointment so couldn’t make it to the gym. The doctor said I have asthma (again) which could be why I’m getting back pain.

Day 22

I did a heck of a lot of walking. I did two days worth of steps. I didn’t make it to the gym though.

Day 23

Once again, there was no gym but I did reach my daily step going by doing 15,100 steps.

Day 24

I felt ill so I didn’t reach my step goal nor did I go to the gym.

Day 25

Once again, there was no gym but I did reach my daily step goal which is good.

So, I started off doing really well but then it went downhill. Hopefully the next 25 days will be better!
