Low Waste Eco-Friendly Transitioning Tips

You’d think that saving the planet would be the job of a superhero. If that’s true, we are all superheroes. It’s everyone’s job to save the planet.

I’m not asking you to go out into the world and save civilians or do the job of the police. I’m asking you to be more considerate of the planet.

I asked on Twitter for people to send me some tips for saving the planet in smaller steps and I thought that I would share them with you all, here on my blog.

Recycle Your Empty Inhalers

If you’re asthmatic or know anyone that is, you can recycle your used inhalers. Simply click here to find your nearest drop off point. Mine is the chemist that I use regularly so this should be pretty easy.

Recycle Your Used Tassimo Disks

If you have a Tassimo coffee machine you can actually donate your used disks by clicking here. You can find your nearest drop off point by searching your location. Unfortunately, my nearest location is over an hour away but I’m hoping that they expand in the future and open more drop off locations.

Swap your plastic toothbrush for a bamboo toothbrush

I will admit that this kind of toothbrush is slightly more expensive but it will be worth it in the end. They are better quality then a regular toothbrush and you can recycle all of it at the end of it’s last use. It’s definitely worth looking into. You can even buy them on Amazon and I know that they sell them in Superdrug too.

Shop second hand

If your local town is anything like mine, then it should have quite a few different charity shops. We have everything from Cancer Research, BHF and Cat’s Protection. We also have some smaller, less known charity shops too. I prefer to shop at the smaller ones but I do shop a little in all of them. I love a good charity shop haul. If you want to know more about second-hand shopping then I did write a post which you can check out.

Donate your unwanted items

Leading on from charity shops, you can donate your used items to them instead of simply throwing them away. Unwanted toys, clothing and even furniture can be donated to charity shops these days. If you have a large amount of stuff, more charity shops will come and collect it from your home too which is a great help for people who don’t drive.

Freecycle

Have you ever heard of Freecycle? It’s similar to an online store except everything is FREE. If you have something you need to get rid of but you don’t want to sell it on eBay or anything similar, you can donate it on Freecycle. This is great for people who don’t have much money. You can also request things and people can email you if they have the thing ready to be donated. It’s great for low income families and it’s a great service that you should all definitely support.

Use Shampoo Bars

I only heard of these recently but they are life changing. You can buy them from Lush and you can probably get them from a few other places too. They are relatively cheap, come with no packaging and they make your hair feel amazing. Definitely worth trying.

What small steps are you taking to save the planet?

Sunday Loves

Today is a Sunday. Usually, I tend to dislike Sunday’s quite a bit. I find them boring as there’s nothing open in my local area and therefore. nothing to do.

As 2019 arrived, I decided to start looking at life more positively. That is why this Sunday, I’m making a list of all the things that I love. Whether it’s a product I found online, an activity I have done or someone who made me smile, I’m going to talk about it more.

1… These shoes are absolutely gorgeous. I found them on Pinterest and then they seem to be popping up everywhere ever since. I need them in my life and as soon as I get paid, I’m buying them. The little cat face on them is adorable and I love the colour.

2… I’ve been making homemade bread. I haven’t perfected the recipe yet but when I do, I’ll be an unstoppable break making lady. It tastes super yummy and it so much better for you, the environment and your health than the processed stuff you can buy from the supermarket.

3… Going to the gym is something that I used to hate but now I feel excited about it again. Maybe it’s because gym people are everywhere now and everyone is promoting health but I just feel excited for my next workout.

4… I’ve been reading To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han and it’s so addictive. I love, love, love it! I have already watched the film on Netflix and I loved that too.

5… I got a Tassimo around Christmas time and now I’m addicted to drinking warm drinks. My favourite is the Oreo hot chocolate, it’s so tasty!

6… Easter Eggs are in shops!!

What have you been loving this Sunday?
