A Week In Lytham St Anne’s

If you’re wondering why I’ve been a little bit quiet on social media recently then allow me to explain. Simon and I have been on a little Monday to Friday UK holiday.

Monday 10th June

So, we woke up at 4:30am and walked to town. Usually we get the bus but I wanted to leave the house even earlier so we walked instead. We popped to Tesco for some breakfast. I had Pan Au Chocolates and cookies and Simon had something but I really can’t remember what.

We arrived at the bus stop and got on the bus to Chester. The journey went slowly but I think that’s because I was excited!

Once we got to Chester, we realised we were super early so we got on an earlier train to Warrington Bank Quay. The train was super old fashioned and had slide down windows which really amused Simon and I. We kept pulling them up and down.

There was a 25 minutes wait and Warrington before we boarded the second train to Preston. Because we got an earlier train, we were an hour and a bit earlier than expected in Preston so we walked around the Fishergate Shopping Centre for a little bit.

After walking around some shops, we headed to The Sizzler for a bite to eat. The Sizzler is in Lytham but it’s worth the trip from Preston. I enjoyed my southern fried sweet chilli wrap and chips!

Once we had finished eating, we headed to the hotel to check in.

We were staying at the Travelodge in Lytham St Anne’s. We have stayed there many times before and the staff as super friendly and helpful. Our room was absolutely lovely and we got it at a good rate too.

We quickly threw our bags into the hotel room and headed for the bus to Blackpool. We ended up walking around Blackpool for a while and it was lovely.

Eventually, it was time to get the bus back to St Anne’s. Of course, I was hungry at this point so it was time for food.

After a quick outfit change and a selfie, we headed out to The Trawl Boat Inn for some food.

After eating, we took a walk along the pier and promenade. The weather was slightly windy but it was fun overall.

After a long day, we headed back to our hotel room and chatted until we fell asleep.

Tuesday 11th June

I woke up about 100 times in the night. I always do the first night in a hotel which is annoying. The bus was so comfy though!

I eventually got out of bed at 5am and started to get ready. I managed to get my hair into some kind of up-do which made me so happy because I have been waiting for my hair to grow for a while.

After watching Good Morning Britain for a little while, we headed out for breakfast. I bought a croissant to eat on the go so we could get on the bus quicker.

We hopped on the bus to Blackpool and did some shopping.

Our favourite shopping centre in Blackpool is the Houndshill. We can spend hours in there. We bought a paintball gun, clothing, shoes and video games.

After shopping for a while, we headed to the arcades.

In the arcades, we found a Zoltar so we had to get our four tunes read. Mine was way better than Simon’s though which made me laugh.

We played on a lot of 2p machines and walked around for a while.

It was then time to head out for more food. This time, we were having Chinese food. I ordered sweet and sour chicken with chips. Simon ordered the same. It was from a place called Chu’s in Lytham and it was so tasty.

After the meal, we headed back to the hotel to watch television get ready for the next day.

Wednesday 12th June

On Wednesday, I managed to sleep in for an extra hour. I did wake up pretty suddenly after an odd dream though. After watching Good Morning Britain again, Simon and I got ready and headed to Tesco to grab some food before we got on the bus to Preston. The bus to Preston take literally forever but once we got there, we had so much fun.

We did some shopping in two of our favourite shops, Tiger and Kenji. They are both super cheap and affordable shops that sell the cutest things.

After some shopping, we headed to Blackpool. Simon wanted to visit Sea Life so we did and it was super fun.

We even booked in for a behind the scenes tour so we got to see more than most visitors. We were the only one on the tour so I asked loads of questions and we found out all about different fish types and sharks.

At Sea Life, we did a little bit more shopping. Simon bought some plushies and I bought two enamel pins to add to my collection.

After Sea Life, we went into the Houndshill and had a little look around the shops again. At least this time we stopped ourselves from buying anything.

It was then time to head back to the hotel as it was getting later in the day so we hopped back on the bus and headed to St Anne’s. Once we arrived, we went back to the hotel, changed into our flip flops and went for a walk along the beach.

Although it was slightly cold, it was enjoyable and we just walked and talked about the future and how much of a good time we have had so far.

When the beach got a tad boring, we headed back to the hotel where I drank plenty of cups of tea and sat in bed watching television and listening to some tunes.

Thursday 13th June

On the Thursday we woke up early… again. After a cup of tea and some breakfast we walked around the shops in St Anne’s Square.

After walking became uninteresting, we headed back to the hotel for a mini rest before heading back out to Fleetwood.

Fleetwood have a huge market which sells a huge range of things. We didn’t buy anything but there was so much stuff that I wanted.

There were some spiritual stalls and I found loads of cool things. I was a happy girl.

After Fleetwood we headed to a little outlook shopping center for a walk around. There was even a Cadbury’s shop. I wanted everything but managed to restrain myself.

After shopping, we headed back to St Anne’s to our hotel. I had a cup of tea again and then started packing ready to leave the next morning.

Friday 14th June

Friday was the day that we headed home. But first, we took a walk around Blackburn. It was a lovely place and we did some mor shopping and exploring.

After exploring, it was time to head to the train station in Preston to get the train home.

The journey home was long but as soon as we arrived, I was glad to be home!

Happy Birthday, Simon!

So, if you didn’t already know, today is Simon’s birthday. We will be celebrating it by taking a trip to Chester Zoo and eating lots of cake!

For Simon’s birthday, we are getting annual passes for Disneyland Paris but we aren’t getting them for a few more months. I also got him a Wild At Heart DVD boxset as that’s what he wanted.

On top of the presents, bakerdays were lovely enough to send us a letterbox cake. I got to choose the design that I wanted and what flavour we received. I chose the design and flavour as a surprise for Simon.

So the process of choosing a cake is easy but the choices are endless so you’ll have to spend a while having a think. They have plenty of options available!

I chose a Pokemon themed cake as Simon loves Pokemon, he even have a Pokemon tattoo.

The cake arrived on time and we rushed to open it. The colours on the cake were super vibrant and beautiful and the cake was a perfect consistency.

It was also the perfect size for two people to enjoy together. Although, I probably could have eaten one all to myself it was that good!

If you’re looking for a birthday surprise for someone you love or maybe you want to treat yourself, then check out bakerdays! You can find them through their website, Twitter or Instagram.

Find out more about their cake delivery and their range of cakes for kids. You won’t be disappointed!

Will Going Vegan Work For Me?!

If you follow me on Twitter then you will know that I took a huge step in my life and went from being a meat-eater to a vegan.

A lot of people start their vegan journey by going vegetarian and then going vegan but Simon and I decided to throw ourselves in at the deep end and go full vegan straight away.

The Why?!

You probably want to know why I decided to go vegan. I have a few answers to this to be honest.

  1. the animals.
  2. the health benefits.
  3. more ethical.
  4. save the planet, one person at a time.

The How?!

To start with, Simon and I needed to swap our milk. We drank a lot of milk so soya milk was something that we needed to get used to. I adapted to it rather quickly but Simon seemed to struggle. I actually enjoy the taste of soya milk now and think it’s rather tasty.

Simon ate a lot of eggs in the part so he needed to cut them out too which meant finding a new breakfast for him. We did this by finding a vegan cereal such as Shreddies.

Next, we removed all the meat from the home and replaced it with mock meat. We bought a lot of vegan Quorn and foods that looked like chicken but wasn’t. We noticed that Linda McCarthy burgers are absolutely disgusting so we won’t be buying those again. They actually taste like mud.

The final step was doing a fully vegan food shop. We bought a bunch of vegan products and honestly, I liked the majority of them. At first, we found it difficult to find products that were suitable for vegans which meant that we were in Tesco for a looooong time but I actually found it pretty fun.

The Results?!

Well… it hasn’t been very long but I will keep writing vegan updates and let you know how it goes.

So far, I don’t feel any different but I know that I’m making a positive change so I will keep on going!

Kawaii Box Unboxing And Review

I was gifted this products for free in return for a blog post and YouTube content. All opinions are my own!

For the longest time, I have wanted to work with Kawaii Box. I have always wanted one of their boxers but I just figured that I couldn’t afford it so I gave up on the idea.

That was until Kawaii Box allowed me to receive one of their boxes to review and unbox for you lovely readers.

I was so excited for this Box to arrive, I had been waiting at the door everyday at post time so that I wouldn’t miss the box.

As soon as the boxes arrived, I was so excited. I rushed to my desk to unbox it straight away!

The box was the Valentine’s Day box which was perfect because I received it a day before Valentine’s Day.

Also, can we just take a minute to talk about the packaging! How effing beautiful is the box?!

I’ll talk a little about each item first.

The first thing that I pulled out the box was a super cute DIY bracelet bead kit. This was adorable and I decided straight away that I was going to make a bracelets as soon as I’d finished this post and edited my YouTube video. Although I’m an adult, I still appreciate a bit of fun so this bead kid was lovely. If you have kids, it would be a fun thing to do together.

The second thing that I noticed was the pink trinket box. This little heart shaped box is just the cutest! I’m going to use it to store any spare craft pieces and buttons. I think it would look super cute on my desk.

I then found some SakuPan panda snacks. I didn’t want to share my snacks with anyone as they were super yummy. I did end up giving one to Simon though and he weirdly didn’t like them. He doesn’t like strawberry flavoured things though and these were strawberry flavoured so that’s to be expected.

Following the super yummy snacks, I pulled out some adorable Pompompurin socks. They are super fluffy and kawaii and I just love them so much. In fact, I am wearing them as I type this.

In the box, there was also a super kawaii Hello Kitty and Pompompurin dish. This dish would be perfect on a bedside table where you can put your watch and rings and anything else you can think of. It would just look the absolute cutest.

Also, there was a lovely cat pass. I think that’s what I’m going to call it. It’s like a pass that ‘professional’ wear on a lanyard and I love it. If you know me, then you’ll know that I love lanyards.

Possibly my least favourite thing (which I still really enjoy) was a pink squishy heart. It is a slow rising squishy which I love and it also comes on a little chain so you can hang it on stuff.

Another thing that I received in the box was a mechanical pencil. It has a little sweet charm on it and although it arrived broken (but I fixed it), I still love it.

One of the other things that I receive were some panda stickers. Simon claimed these straight away and now they are his. He loves stickers a lot (which is odd for a 26 year old man) but ya know..

Lastly, I received a keyring. It has an adorable love heart on it and there’s also too little jars of pixie dust on them.

If you would like to receive your own Kawaii Box then here’s a little giveaway for you.

Simply Trios Chocolates

I was gifted these chocolates in return for me posting a review or talking about them on my social media.

You know what I love..? Chocolate!

When I was contacted by the very lovely Adam from Simply Trios, I jumped at the opportunity to review their chocolates.

Simply Trios started when Adam was just 13. He tried some little round sweets and was hooked so just had to try to make them himself. After a few failed attempts, he perfected his recipe and now we have a company called Simply Trios.

It was only last year that Adam decided to scale up and see what other people thought.

The chocolates came wrapped in perfect packaging that really protected the chocolates.

What chocolates are available?

The Speculoos – A caramelised biscuit Trio base covered in white chocolate.

The Peanut Nutter – A peanut Trio base covered in peanut butter milk chocolate, topped with either a honey roasted peanut or a caramelised sesame coated peanut.

The Artful Dodger – A childhood flashback. A jammy shortcake Trio base with strawberry gummy pieces covered in white chocolate with strawberry syrup swirls.

The Dark Horse – Adding some spice back into life. A smooth, light ginger Trio base, covered in rich dark chocolate.

The Choco-Oro-Honeyo – An orange-creme Trio base, covered in milk chocolate orange with honeycomb chunks.

The Puffin – A puffed pastry lemon Trio base covered in white chocolate and coated with meringue pieces.

The Original White – A little extra indulgence. Our original Trio base covered in white chocolate.

The Malted Milk – For all malt lovers out there! A malt Trio base covered in milk chocolate.

The Cookie Crumble – Our original Trio base filled with cookie chunks, covered in milk or white chocolate, and sprinkled with cookies and creme pieces.

The Original Milk – Where it all began. Our original Trio base covered in milk chocolate. Simple simplicity.

My verdict

My absolute my favourite was The Speculoos but this was super hard to choose as I loved them all so much. I shared them with Simon but trust me, I didn’t want to share.

The Artful Dodger was probably a second favourite as it was full of taste and flavour.

With each chocolate only costing 75p, you should definitely treat yourself to all of them. You can cut them up and have a taste testing session with a friend or you could simply keep them all for yourself.

I know that I’ll be purchasing their chocolates again, especially The Speculoos. I might have to buy that one in bulk!

Have you ever tried Simply Trios before?

Don’t forget to check out their store and their Twitter account.

I’m Doing A Dechox!

If you know me then you’ll know that I’m often trying to raise money for charity.

That is why, I’m jumping on the band waggon and doing a dechox to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

The British Heart Foundation has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It’s only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.

I’m trying to raise at least £50 by giving up chocolate for the whole of February. That means NO more hot chocolate, chocolate cookies or Easter Eggs.

If you wish to sponsor me then you can do so by clicking here!

If you do decide to support me then thank you SO MUCH!
