Top 5 Animation Shows

I love animations. I don’t watch much tv but when I do it’s probably an animation show.

I wanted to talk a little bit about my top cartoons/animations. I thought it would be fun for you to find some to watch too through my recommendations.

Gravity Falls

This is definitely my absolutely favourite animation show. It follows the story of Mable and Dipper who go to stay with their Uncle Stan for the summer. They get up to all kinds of crazy things and they discover that Gravity Falls is not normal at all.

Mable is the cutest character ever and I would love to cosplay her one day. She has an adorable fashion sense and is super kind and funny. Uncle Stan is grumpy which brings a lot of humour to the show. Dipper is funny too but in a completely different way to Uncle Stan.

Hilda

I only started this show a few months ago but I’ve already watched it all… twice. Hilda, a fearless blue-haired girl, travels from a wilderness full of elves and giants to a bustling city packed with new friends and mysterious creatures. We follow her adventures and it’s just so fun.

Steven Universe

‘Weeeeee… are the crystal gems….’ But anyway, I adore this show. The animations are adorable and everyone can relate to a different character in some kind of way. I’m definitely a combo of Steven and Amethyst but maybe with a bit more Amethyst.

The Crystal Gems are a group of magical bearings who’s job is to save the universe. They have a half magical being called Steven who is like the little brother of the group.

Aggretsuko

I finished season one of this show just the other day and I loved it. With each episode only being 15 minutes long, it made the show easier to digest which was good for my short attention span.

Aggretsuko follows Retsuko ass she deals with her accounting day job and her horrible boss by singing heavy metal karaoke.

She-Ra

Now, I wasn’t sure if I should include this show in my list as I only just started it but it was so much fun during the first few episodes so I wanted to include it.

She-Ra, Princess of Power, leads a rebellion to free her land of Etheria from the monstorus invaders the Horde. My favourite character is Glimmer and she is fun and adorable.

WWE Super ShowDown 2019 Predications

WWE’s Super ShowDown pay-per-view is scheduled for June 7th in King Abdullah International Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This event features some big superstars that are bound to fill your with nostalgia.

With the likes of The Undertaker, Triple H, Goldberg, Roman Reigns and Randy Orton scheduled to compete at the event, Super ShowDown promises to be an interesting event.

So, let’s talk about the matches..

The Undetaker vs Goldberg

These two have never had a match in the shared circle before so this will be a first. Simon is a huge fan of The Undertaker but for me, he is just getting too old and is no longer in his prime. Goldberg is getting older too so even though this match will be super fun for older WWE fans, this match doesn’t interest me all that much. I don’t have high expectations for this match at all.

Prediction: Goldberg wins.

Triple H vs Randy Orton

Triple H and Randy Orton have been feuding on and off for over a decade. Even though we have seen this match a few times, some fans are excited to see Orton and Triple H in the ring against each other again because they are at different points in their careers.

Predication: Triple H wins.

Finn Balor vs Andrade

Since The Demon has been advertised for the event, I’m pretty certain that Finn is going to win this one. That’s what I’d bet my money on anyway. Plus, he is one of my favourite WWE superstars.

Prediction: Finn Balor wins.

The Lucha House Party vs Lars Sullivan

There is a very obvious predication here. Lars Sullivan isn’t a fan fave but he is given plenty of wins. On the last episode of Smackdown Live, Lars was being called boring by the crowd and I couldn’t help but agree. He is made out to be intimidating but honestly, I just think he is boring.

Predication: Lars Sullivan wins.

Seth Rollins vs Baron Corbin

There’s no way that Seth Rollins loses this title at this show and especially when it’s against Baron Corbin. It’s just not happening.

Predication: Seth Rollins wins.

Dolph Ziggler vs Kofi Kingston

Dolph Ziggler has been off the scene for a while now. Meanwhile, Kofi Kingston has been working hard, fighting for what he deserves. Both of these men have not had much attention even though they work hard so this match will be a good one.

Predication: Kofi Kingston wins.

Roman Reigns vs Shane McMahon

Shane McMahon has moved on from The Miz and set his sights on taking out Roman Reigns. It’s a fight that no one asked for but we are getting anyway. It’s completely unnecessary but hey ho.

Predication: Roman Reigns wins.

What are your predications for Super ShowDown?!

Why You Should Watch Hilda If You Like Gravity Falls

If you know me then you’ll know that I love Gravity Falls. Sadly, I’ve watched all of Gravity Falls a lot of times now so I’m always on the hunt for similar things to watch.

I was scrolling though the internet when I noticed a show that was similar to Gravity Falls. That show is called Hilda!

I decided to throw myself into the show without watching the trailer because I feel like trailers often ruin a show for me.

Hilda is based off the graphic novel series by Luke Pearson. Both the graphic novels and the show follow the story of Hilda; a fearless girl who lives with her mum and her pet Deerfox names Twig. Hilda and her family lived in a forest cabin. That is until certain events happen which force Hilda and her mom and a little elf named Aulfur to move to the city of Trolberg and the show follows Hilda as she learns to adapt to city life, meet new friends and discovers all sorts of weird and mysterious things along the way.

Sound familiar? If you’re getting Gravity Falls vibes I do not blame you!

Hilda is being compare to Gravity Falls by many. Hilda herself is in a way, a mix of Dipper and Mabel. She has Dipper’s interests in the wilderness and the unknown. She also gets along with people and has a personality that is just like Mabel’s when it comes to being caring to others.

But as you all know, Hilda is a whole other show and sometimes I feel like I shouldn’t be comparing all shows to Gravity Falls. While it is nice to compare the showers, I feel like you should watch tv shows as if Gravity Falls never existed.

Not only does Hilda have great characters but it’s visually breathtaking. The animation flows beautifuly, the backgrounds are stunning and the scenery is perfect.

Hilda has me sat watching with a huge grin on my face. Hilda’s humour is pretty straight up and sophisticated. The humour is very ‘British’. The show is absolutely full of tea jokes.

Out of all the animation shows that I have watched thanks to Gravity Falls, Hilda is a person favourite. It is even pretty close competition with Gravity Falls for my all time favourite animation show. It’s full of nostalgia, pretty visuals, fun characters and amazing stories to top it off.

If you’re in need of something to watch and you’ve already watched Gravity Falls, I definitely recommend that you check out Hilda. It is worth watching even if you didn’t like/haven’t seen Gravity Falls.

Upcoming Anime For 2019

I seem to be getting back into anime. I think about it a lot and spend a lot of time watching it now.

Back to a few years ago, I was watching anime all the time. Then suddenly, I lost interest after watching half of a show.

But now, the anime bug has bitten again. That is why I’m super hyped for some of the 2019 upcoming anime releases.

7 seeds

‘Natsu, Arashi and a few dozen others had gone to bed like any other night when they woke up… somewhere else. In this new post-apocalyptic future, mutated plants and animals lie in every direction and mankind is long extinct. Scientists of the past predicted that a meteorite would strike Earth and render the planet uninhabitable, so they devised a plan: they would cryogenically freeze five teams of young adults and have them revived by a computer when life is again sustainable. Seven people formed each team along with a guide specially trained to survive in the wild, and seven caches of supplies were left to be found. Together, the teams must try to survive in a new and hostile world, inadvertently finding the other survivors and clues to their circumstances along the way.’

We Never Learn

‘Yuiga is so close to obtaining a college scholarship that it’s maddening! Even though he’s one of the most hardworking students at school, he keeps getting beat by two girls who seem to be geniuses in certain subjects. And now he finds out that he’s going to have to help these two geniuses… Sounds easy for a couple brainiacs, right? Wrong!’

Boogiepop and Others

‘There is an urban legend that children tell one another about a shinigami that can release people from the pain they may be suffering. This “Angel of Death” has a name: Boogiepop. And the legends are true. Boogiepop is real. When a rash of disappearances involving female students breaks out at Shinyo Academy, the police and faculty assume they just have a bunch of runaways on their hands. But Nagi Kirima knows better. Something mysterious and foul is afoot. Is it Boogiepop, or something more sinister…?’

Flying Babies

‘The anime will center on a group of young girls and their struggle as they aim to become Hula Girls.’

Hoshiai no Sora

‘The teen adolescence story revolves around the coming-of-age of boys in a junior high school’s soft tennis team, which is on the verge of shutting down. In the video above, the character Tōma Shinjō asks Maki Katsuragi to join the team for his vaunted abilities, and mentions a summer competition. Katsuragi asks for money in return for joining the team.’

Dr. Stone

‘One fateful day, all of humanity was petrified by a blinding flash of light. After several millennia, high schooler Taiju awakens and finds himself lost in a world of statues. However, he’s not alone! His science-loving friend Senku’s been up and running for a few months and he’s got a grand plan in mind—to kickstart civilization with the power of science!’

Glitter Force First Impressions And Review

A couple of days ago, I was browsing the anime section of Netflix when I discovered that Glitter Force was on there. I love magical girls so I thought that I would give it a go. Glitter Force is the ninth instalment of the Pretty Cure franchise. Unfortunately, it is dubbed on Netflix and I prefer a Japanese anime with subtitles but I decided to try it anyway.

What I’ve Heard

I’ve heard of Pretty Cure before and knew a little about it but I hadn’t watched many episodes. Pretty Cure seems to be very popular in Japan as most magical girl anime shows tend to be. I had no idea that Glitter Force was on Netflix though so I was pretty happy when I stumbled upon it by accident.

Expectations

Based off the the adorable imagary from the anime, I thought that it would be a magical girl anime that is similar to Sailor Moon. The girls all wear a different color, suggesting that they all have abilities dealing with different elements. I expected that the anime would greatly revolve around the themes of love and friendship.

Thoughts while watching it

As soon as the episode started, I noticed that they had jumped straight into the plot by introducing all the magical girls in a dream of the protagonist. She often has dreams of being a magical girl, fighting crime and is often dreaming of fairytales. Emily, who is the protagonist, compared a lot of her life to fairytales.

We follow Emily to her first day of school and I honestly thought that she was adorable. She may have had an over optimistic view of the world but I think that’s a good trait to have anyway. A lot of the time, protagonists that like fairytales can be a little daydreamy or obsessive about fantasy but I didn’t find that with Emily. The producers and writers definitely didn’t over do it like in usual shows. I was in love with Emily as a character straight away!

I am a twenty-two year old so I expect that the anime was aimed for younger people. I realised this a few minutes in. All the characters seemed to be younger and have higher voices than myself. I wish I watched this show while I was growing up as I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more than but it was definitely still enjoyable as an adult.

Emily has to introduce herself to the class but her anxiety makes her struggle to get the words out and she forgets what she wanted to say, so a very loud girl named Kelsey takes over and introduces Emily to the class. Then, some other female classmates speak up and compliment Emily. These students then introduce themselves in front of the class to Kelsey and Emily and Emily realizes that these girls were the other magical girls in her dream. I found this part funny but also a little awkward. In reality, no new student would have to introduce themselves nor would another student be allowed to go to the front of the class to shout about the new student. Maybe I just went to a really strict school but in my school, we had to raise our hands before we could speak.

After Emily’s introduction, Emily stumbles upon a fantasy land in the library. While in the fantasy land, Emily learns that a group of girls were prophesied to to defeat the evil Emperor Nogo, who wishes to take all happy endings from the world.

After she leaves the library, Emily heads home but notices a wolf in the sky named Ulric who is sucking all the hopes, dreams and happy ending from the civilians. Emily then transforms into a magical girl and fights Ulric. This was my favourite part as I like watching a magical girl do her stuff!
